Stampin' in the Prairies

Such exciting news!

During my last absense of blogging my baby sister, Amber, gave birth to a baby girl, her first.  She was born on October 25th.  Her name is Tristyn Serenity.

My other sister, Nicole, was due December 7th so they were due five weeks apart.  I got the call at 3am this morning that my sis was in the hospital and getting the epidural.  Well with all my health problems and meds I am on I can't even drive.  So my mom drove me into the city and I was with my sister by 4am.  Well, she gave birth at 8:26am this morning to a baby girl.  So two nieces 5 weeks apart! :)

Her name is Skye Sophia Lynn.  She weighs 6 lbs 8 oz and was 19.5 inches long.  Just a little peanut!

Watching a baby enter the world and take their first breath never gets old.  It was an amazing experience! 

I am finally back home and in bed resting up for a big test in the morning. 

Of course I couldn't not post a picture or two of the beautiful little niece of mine! :)

 

 

 

    Here I am with the little beauty!  Can you tell I only had an hour of sleep and am on heavy meds?  I am so thankful for God to allow me to be well enough today to be there to witness one of the world's most miraculous wonders!

Anyways, I have a big test in regards to my current health state tomorrow morning and have to be at admitting in the hospital early for sedation.  So I will do a quick post in the morning of what I made for Skye's shower (just two days before) before I leave for the hospital.

P.S. All of you who have emailed me for the votive box pattern, I obviously wasn't expecting to go to the hospital today, so depending how I feel I will put it up tomorrow or Thursday.

I finally got my mojo back!

I have a hefty pile of very ugly, tacky cards behind me and I am finally back in action.  Man, after not stamping regularly for a long time, it was hard to get back into it.  Even choosing colors together was hard!  Almost like starting back at square 1!

So here is a card I think I like....the picture is bad as my sunlight lamp fell and the bulb is toast!  So this is beside my window and not a great pic.

Stamps:  Always

Paper: groovy guava, chocolate chip. whisper white, afternoon tea designer paper

Ink: close to cocoa, groovy guava, chocolate chip, chocolate chip marker

Accessories:  wild wasabi double stitched ribbon, misc. buttons, dollar store rhinestone brad

First I stamped the bird with guava and then colored in the design with chocolate marker.  I added the brad for the eye next and then did some faux stitching and sponging on the corners.  Then I matted on chocolate and afternoon tea.  The ribbon was added and then I matted on chocolate.  The buttons were added and then matted on guava card base.  I sponged the edges with guava ink and then added the sentiment with chocolate ink.  Last, I stamped the doodleydad stamps along the botton with guava.

I just had to share a few pics here also.  The first is my son in the mud yesterday.  It got quiet in the backyard and I looked out in the alley and there was my boy sitting in the flooded tire tracks in the alley.  We had had a storm that morning so it was mucky as all get out!  He was practically swimming in it by the end.  Even washed his hair in it.  I couldn't even give him trouble because he was too cute!

Lastly, we were under a tornado warning for 3 hours last night...two tornadoes touched down just by us and we heard on the radio that there was a funnel cloud just outside our town!  This is Canada, like what is going on??  So we were all in the basement, not able to go to sleep.  The scariest part was it was night time so how can you see one coming?  The water was up to our basement windows so the water came pouring in...ugh.  We had to go outside between the first and second storm and do an assembly line with buckets to get the water away!   Here is a really cool pic I took just before the tornado warning...weird.

I am a granny!

Not a real granny, but to my daughter apparently I am! It is her birthday this weekend and she has been asking for the past 2 years for a Baby Alive doll.  My hubby and I broke down and gave it to her today.  Well, I was over the top excited to give it to her since I have been hearing literally every other day about this doll for over 100 weeks!!  So, here we are!  My, my baby girl and her baby girl!  My heart welled up so big looking at the look on her face.  She has some learning problems and has alot of frustrating hard days (this is also because of a bad sugar sensitivity that makes us but heads because of her hyperness).  When I saw how happy she was, it was all worth searching and searching for the doll.  It seemed that every time I went out to buy it, every other mom was buying one for her daughter.  I could just go on and on forever about my baby girl, Brooke.  She has come such a long way.  When she was born she was very sick and was touch and go at first.  She was on life support for 5 days and had a severe infection.  Look at her now.  Who would have thought??  Mommy loves you, my girl.

P.S.  Don't mind my not so hot look.  I have insomnia really bad so the sleep wears on my body really bad! :)

Shhhh....don't tell the easter bunny!

  I peeked downstairs tonight and he came!  **Wink**   I hope the easter bunny doesn't get mad at me, but  I had to take pics!  Have a great Easter Sunday tomorrow with family and friends, and you can't forget the yummy food!

Oh, and the kids and I went to Scott's Parables (christian store) and got these Veggie Tales shrink wraps for easter eggs.  Aren't they just the cutest??  I love Easter!

I got this off of Julie's blog this morning.  Thought it would be a fun way to kill some time!  So, let's keep this going and you answer it too!

1. If your doctor told you TODAY that you were pregnant, what would you say? I would be overwhelmed with joy.  After many miscarraiges and too much heartache, we gave up on having another baby.  So I would also be really scared, but joyful!

2. When was the last time you flew in a plane? November 16 when I came back from visiting my mom.

3. What did the last text message you sent say? Sadly, I was upset with my hubby so it wasn't a positive one!

4. What features do you find most attractive in the opposite sex? The smile and sense of humor get me.  Oh, and of course, that butt! :)

5. What is a goal you would like to accomplish in the near future? Get off these crutches and start walking again.  And to pack some more boxes as we are moving.

6. Shoe size? 8

7. Been to Mexico? Nope.

8. When is the last time you had a massage? In November at a stamping retreat.  Man, I need another one bad!

9. What was the last TV show you watched? Young and the Restless...I am a soaps junkie!

10. What are your plans for the weekend? Sitting on my derriere and catching up on my pvr's as I just had a minor surgery yesterday to get some glass out of my foot that had been in there over a week.  So, ya, it wasn't good.  Side note: needles in the bottom of your foot HURT!

11. If your significant other asked you to marry them TODAY what would you say? Well, I would be confused as we are already married, but sure, I would marry him all over again.

12. What is in the back seat of your car right now? 3 car seats, some kids books, a basket of toys and emergency clothes bag.

13. What were you doing at 8 am this morning? drinking coffee and elavating my pounding foot!  Oh, and getting the kids off to school from my chair!

14. If you could marry any celebrity today who would it be? Gosh, I would have to say Ben Affleck.  I love those eyes and that smile.

15. Have you ever been to a strip club? Nope.

16. What is the best ice cream flavor? chocolate chip cookie dough

17. What is the last sporting event you watched? I watched my daughter at skating.

18. Ever go camping? Lots, I love it!  Lotsa camping up north in tents next to the bears.  We have had a blast doing it, too.  It is also nice that we rent a cabin every summer.  It is nice to have an actual roof over your head!

19. Last phone call? To my friend last night for our nightly chat.

20. Are you allergic to anything? Deathly: bee stings   Bad: penicillin, codiene Suck it up allergies: snowmolds, smoke, pollen, harvest stuff, strong scents (lotions, perfumes, etc), grass...the list goes on and on!

21. What is one thing you have learned about life recently? I went through a really horrible week last week.  I felt devastated by a certain situation.  I prayed and prayed and realized that even though I have to walk away from some people in my life, I will be ok.  I got my hubby, my kids, my extended family.  So I am good to go.  Lots of tears were shed, lots of prayers were said.  In the end I realized that God is good and is taking care of me and I will be ok!

22. What do you do at work? I am a wife and mother....so I don't need to even get into specifics.

23. What is your mom's name? Carrie

24. Ever cried for no reason? Oh, gosh, I used to say I don't cry, but in the past few weeks I am crying over everything.  Commercials, shows, the radio, everything!

25. Can you do the Crank Dat dance? Huh...say wha???

26. What is your favorite color to wear? Blue!

27. What is the longest plane ride you have ever been on? From Saskatoon to Toronto, Ontario.

28. What is the longest road trip you have ever taken? went down to Wichita, Kansas for two weeks.

29. What are your turn-offs? Liars and vindictive people!!!

30. What was your last alcoholic beverage? good ol' rye and coke

31. What are you craving right now? laying on the couch, but somehow I need to take my sister to her first prenatal and get some groceries!

Been MIA

I haven't been around as I have been at the hospital with my sick little guy.  He has a bit of an elevated white blood count, severe fever (almost 106 at one point), hallucinations, and didn't urinate or drink at all in a day.  So we waited for a bed last night in pediatrics and it was too full.  So it was either stay in the peds emerg or come home for a rest and see how he does.  It is now morning, we have been home for around 10 hours.  He is sleeping beside me and his body is still so hot.  He is red like a tomato, now having diarreah and he is barely drinking (at least he is though!).  They left the IV lock in him as he was so dehydrated that his veins were pretty much collapsed and they tried 5 times before getting an IV in him.  Talk about torture on mom and child!  It was really heartbreaking.  I just thought I would update.  I am heading back up in half an hour to give him an assessment.  We will come back home in a few hours though as I talked to them this morning and the beds are still full.  And now that he is drinking some sis and finally wetting again I am sure I can have him recover at home.  We just need to make sure he is still hydrated and maybe get that dreaded IV lock that is wrapped in a cast out.  he keeps trying to pull it off! I could ramble on forever.  The only people I have talked to in the past 2 days are docs and nurses.  So don't mind me!

I do have some projects saved to my laptop here, so later when he is back in bed sleeping I will post something.  Just thought I would update on the crazy life around here.  Oh, and to boot, my hubby is really sick on the couch.  Anyone wanna fly some supper here??  hehe
