Reinkers with Stamps Tutorial

I am back after sleeping in this morning till 11am!  I love my kids! lol

Anyways, I am sneaking in this tutorial between loads of laundry.  I noticed there is another tutorial on coloring on stamps using reinkers.  That one uses a blender pen to do the trick.  Clever idea, but I have had bad luck with my blender pens and no longer buy them.  Also I wanted to have a fresh tool to use for every new color. 

Supplies you will need:

Reinkers

Stamp

Plastic container lid  (I used a clear acrylic block)

Q-Tips

 

 

 

 

Squirt some reinker onto the lid or block.  I used a good amount so it would soak up the Q-Tip nicely.  But don't soak the Q-Tip heavily as this is a mess and can really cause a blurred stamp image.  Then you will want to either press the Q-Tip around the block to remove the excess so it isn't to juicy as stated above.  You can also use a kleenex, or something like it. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now apply the Q-Tip to the areas of the stamp you would like to color.  Yes, it is a more broad tool for applying the ink, but I colored with the Q-Tip on a bit of an angle for the smaller parts.  It was really easy.  Then clean off your lid or block and repeat with a different color and finish off coloring the stamp. (Tip, color with it as you would a marker.  I found dabbing the stamp made the image appear blotchy.)

 

 

Next, huff and apply image to paper and you are done!  It is a cheap, poor man's way of coloring with the reinkers on stamps.  And everyone has Q-Tips!  Or at least they should. :)

Here is my finished card.

 I used the tutorial for the main image. But, I stamped off once to give this card a softer look.   I sponged around the edge of it with soft sky.   I then matted and roughed the edges.  I used a white card base and attached the ribbon with a little charm.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in black.

Stamps: Essence of love

Paper: wild wasabi, purely pomegranete, basic black, whisper white

Ink: wild wasabi and purely pom. reinkers, basic black and soft sky ink pad

Accessories: black gingham ribbon, cutter kit (distressor), charm from Close to my Heart

I said I would be back yesterday to post the tutorial for the in colors on stamps.  I had totally forgotten that my sister-in-law was moving.  I had to help.  Got her mostly moved in today but still am going to help her unpack as she has two little ones and is a single mom.  Ain't I nice?? :)

Thinking of you sketch

For this card I used the sketch for this week on SCS.  A highschool classmate of mine just got diagnosed with cancer.  It isn't looking good so I wanted to lift her spirits and send her a card.  I hope it will encourage her a bit.  She has a husband and 2 small kids and is only 27.  All I can do is send her a card and encourage her through words of comfort found in God's Word.

I do apologize for the bad lighting in this picture.  I dropped my natural sunlight lamp and smashed the bul and I am still getting used to a new camera!

Also, I found a way to use in colors to color on stamps.  I don't know if anyone else has figured it out like I have but I will post a tutorial tomorrow once I have perfected it some more.

I colored the stamp and stamped on whisper white.  I matted on wasabi and black.  The background layers were designer paper and the same color matting.  I glued it on the card base and added the clear embellishments.  Then I found some matching primas and a rhinestone brad and adhered that.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment in black.

Paper: soft sky, wild wasabi, whisper white, basic black, fall flower designer paper (I think- I am not near the retired IB & C)

Been a long time!

I have taken a much needed break from blogging for the summer.  I needed a breather with all that has gone on in my life.  And then in the last few days I got to thinking that noone probably even comes here anymore.  I hope you still do, but if not I totally understand.  I wouldn't want to visit a blog that has had no posts in almost two months either. 

Anyways, to get into the who's and why's of me being away is too much to type in one day.  But in the past few days I have realized that I need to stamp.  It is my therapy.  I just need to do it!  And I really enjoy having my blog and reading the comments and emails I receive.  I just hope you all come back and check in.  My last child is now in school so I will have lots of good stuff to post.  See you tonight when I post something decent besides ramblings!
