My daughter is good friends with a little girl who's dad just passed away this last Monday very unexpectedly. He was also a member of our church so we knew him quite well.   We made cookies and cards for her and her mom.  My daughter is anxiously awaiting seeing her little friend and brightening her day.

Here is a card I made for her and her mom.

I made this card quickly today as I don't have alot of time.  I shouldn't even be posting right now!  Hubby and I are going on a double date to Red Lobster...yum :)

I colored the little girl with just markers.  I did some shadowing- not the same as copics but it will do until mine come. Yes, I am getting copics.....anyways.  She is stamped in black stazon n white.  I matted on red.  The card base is sponged with matching ink.  The red layer was punched with the border punch. I added some piercing using the mat pack next.  I then added the sentiment in matching ink and some ribbon.  The main image was adhered to the card using pop dots.  Last,  I added some primas with a half pearl center.

Stocking up

on birthday cards.  Our family is heading in to a season of a lot of birthdays.  So I thought I would start early so I am not too stressed! :)  I peeked at the color combo today and what would you know...the color combo included pacific point.  Sheesh, that is a bright blue that I am kinda uncomfortable using.  To chellenge myself I gave it a go.  Here it is. (the right hand side green layer is not crooked, it is popped up.  It bugged me in the pic so I thought I would mention it) :)

Stamps: Always, warmest regards

Paper: garden green, pacific point, baja breeze, whisper white

Ink: baja breeze, basic black, garden geen, close to cocoa marker

Accessories: baja button, cross stitching thread (dollar store), black gingham ribbon, pewter brads (LSS), slit punch, color spritzer tool, stardust stickles (LSS)

I stamped the flower in baja and added the button with thread.  The white was spritzed with cocoa marker.  The white and green layers where torn and matted on pacific after adding the ribbon.  The butterfly was stamped on pacific paper and I added stickles.  The green layer was stamped with matching ink.  The slit punch was used for the border and I added some paper piercing with a tack for something extra.  Lastly, the sentiment was stamped in black.

Another Valentine

I stayed in bed till noon with the kids today, so I didn't get to stamping till this afternoon.  I think this cold has set in to my sinuses and is quite comfortable there.  It sucks but at least my kids are on the mend.  Maybe I can sleep at night again!

Anywho, I actually did today's Ways to use it challenge on SCS.  You needed to use patterned paper and add glitter or flock, etc to make your own customized paper.  So I got to work.  The thing is, my brain feels squished inside my head due to this cold, so I did another valentine using the same color combo as day before yesterday's card.  The thing about this card though is I got to try out my new digital stamps from All That Scraps!  Here is the link if you wanna check out this set.  It is really cute!  I think I am really getting in to these digi sets now.  The thing that sucks is I did have to use markers as even though I have good printer ink, watercoloring just doesn't work with them for me.  Anyways, on to the card.

I colored the image with markers and added fun flock to the wings for a more real look.  I used the quickie glue pen I got at my LSS.  I love it as it has a really fine tip, like a ball point pen, so you have control over te glue and stay in the lines!  I added the glitter, using the same pen, to the bow and the hearts on the mushroom.  The frameswere made with my uber cool Slice machine.  I sponged the edges of the red frame with matching ink. 

Now for the challenge, all I did was use that sweet quickie glue pen, colored in the cirles and added the fun flock.  It looks like it came like that!  It looks way better IRL. Then I added the scalloped border, made with the slit punch and stamped the sentiment in red. 

Oh and I have had a few emails about my Slice machine and what that is all about.  So I will have a post up here in the next few days about more on that. :)

Card and a big mess!

First I will share this simple card I made this morning for a friend that is going through a tough time.  It took me like 10 minutes to make.  My creative juices aren't flowing today as I have this nasty sinus cold.

Stamps: garden sillhouettes, Women of Life- Papertrey Ink

Paper: river rock, bravo burgundy, whisper white, patterned paper- basic grey

Ink: close to cocoa, chocolate chip

Accessories: chocolate chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, brads- dollarama, cutter kit's distressing tool

I stamped the tree in cocoa and stamped off in the background.  Then sponged the edges with cocoa.  The sentiment is stamped with chocolate ink.

 

 

Next......

What do you get when you have a mother (me) laying down sick in bed and a 5 year old boy (my son) that sneaks out from his nap and decides to be like mommy and be a "stampah"???  Well let's find out....

Yep, that's pretty much embossing powder and dazzling diamonds glitter...all over my sticky slice mat.  Did you notice the scrapbooking paint on the desk?  And he nicely painted shut the inside of my pamphlet that came with my Slice design card.  Thanks son!  Oh, and do you notice for the 4 (3 were brand new!) containers of powder and glitter there sure isn't that much on my desk...so where do you think it ended up?  It sure didn't end up on his little "project"!

 

 

That pink container is the garbage can I have on my desk.  Apparently after he was done with the "project" he created he thought the rest was garbage!  Ugh...kids.

Scalloped Valentine

I can't believe soon it will be Valentine's Day already.  It seems just like yesterday I was prepping for Christmas.  I thought I would start on some valentines a bit earlier than I normally do.  Truth be told, I have bought my husband his card for the past few years as the one I make either gets lost in the pile or I didn't even get t making it at all.  This is one of my New Year's Resolutions....stay on top of cards for my family and friends! :)

Anywho, here is a card that took me allllll morning to make.

Supplies Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted

Stamps: My Punny Valentine- Papertrey Ink

Paper: Bella Rose DSP, ridinghood red, pink pirrouette, whisper white, chocolate chip

Ink: pink pirrouette, kiwi kiss, ridinghood red, chocolate chip

Accessories: fiskers scalloped border punch, coluzzle, slit punch, 1/4 " circle punch, brad punch, white gel pen, black gingham ribbon, stampin' dimensionals

I made the red scalloped border behind the squirrel using the coluzzle, cutting an oval, then going around it with the slit punch with the protecter majig removed.  The scallops behind the strawberries were made using the 1/4 circle punch and adhering the circles behind the white circle.  A bit time consuming because the circles are so small, but worth it! 

I have a wicked bad cold so I am off for a nap before the oldest two get home from school.  Thanks for stopping by!

Not too sure about this one

This card has been driving me crazy since last night.  I don't know why I can't seem to make it all come together like the picture I have in my head.  Well I gave up and I am done with it!  Good enough! Note- I just saw something weird on this card, I forgot to make the pattern on the tangerine layer go side to side, looks weird lol.

Stamps:  Humorous Birthday- Inkadinkado, Part Hearty

Paper: watercolor paper, ridinghood red, soft sky, designer papers- don't remember which ones off hand.

Ink: black stazon, ridinghood red, soft sky, chocolate chip, markers- close to cocoa, creamy caramel, chocolate chip, blush blossom

Accessories: ridinghood red ribbon, white crosstitching thread, mat pack, coluzzle, slice machine with noteworthy design card, build a brads in antique brass, 1/4 circle punch, white gel pen, stampin' dimensionals

The bear dude or whatevver he is was watercolored on watercolor paper with markers.  The hat is stamped on ww and I added the stickles to his hat.  I used the Slice for the scalloped circle and the coluzzle for the white cirlce that was placed in behind the scalloped hollow circle.  I used the mat pack for the threading, new to me! :)

Sneak peek

Stamps: Encouraging Verses- Paper Pleasing by Julie Buhler

Paper: soft sky, kiwi kiss, whisper white, chocolate chip, vellum, bella rose designer paper

Ink: black, soft sky, kiwi kiss, pink pirrouette, markers- so saffron, old olive, pretty in pink

Accessories: button bouquet, white taffeta ribbon, white brads- basic grey, slice machine with noteworthy cartridge, border punch- martha stewart, cutter kit- distressor

First I printed off the image and colored with markers, then matted on chocolate and distressed.  I cut out a 3.5" and 4" whirly magoo lol with the slice machine and matted stamped image on that with pop dots.  The top sliced layer is matted onto the bottom sliced layer.

The card base was sponged with sky ink.  I added the vellum layer on top of a designer piece and used brads to adhere them each to the other.  Next I used the border punch on the pink layer, which I sponged with matching ink and then added it to a sponged kiwi layer.  Then I added the ribbon.  For the buttons I cut a thin piece of edge off a piece of taffeta ribbon and used that for the knots in the centers.  I added those and called it done!

Here is a picture of the whole set.  Just print them off, color in if you wish, and use them again and again!

 I am lovin' this set and will be using it often!

First time for everything...

  I bought Liquid Pearls from my LSS a long time ago and it sat in the drawer.  While making this card I was wanting to give it a shimmery, snow like look but I didn't think liquid applique would work as I thought it would screw up his little nose.  So I gave liqiud pearls a try.  I love how it turned out.  It looks bumpy, yet smooth, yet shimmery.  Just like a real snowman. 

I will be honest and say that I don't know if I like the beads, but it's all good! :)

I stamped the main image in red and then added the liquid pearls to the snowman everywhere but the nose.  I colored the nose in orange and then sponged the edges with red.  I then paper pieced th scarf with DSP and added black beads to the eyes, nose and buttons.  I added the beads while the pearls was still wet so it would act like a glue for the beads.  I matted on kiwi next.  The baja layer was stamped with snowflakes using baja ink and then I used the 1/4 inch circle punch to make a ticket edge and sponged the edges with baja ink..  I added the buttons and main image layers next (using pop dots).  The brown DSP layer was sponged around the edges with chocolate ink.  The red DSP was sponged with red ink, too.  The card base was sponged around the edges with kiwi ink.  I added all the layers and ribbon to the card base and then stamped the sentiment in chocolate ink.  What do you think?  How do you like the pearls on the snowman?

Getting ready

As I am takin' er easy during my illness, I have had some time to stamp.  My mom flew in to take over my life and I am stamping more now than I ever have before.  Here is what I came up with to match the card from my last post.

I bought a whole shwack of these jars at Dollarama for 50 cents each, cheap like borscht I'll say! 

I filled the jar with scotch mints and then decorated using the same ribbon, cardstock and designer papers.  I stamped the tag and punched it with the small tag punch, sponged the edges with cocoa and matted with red using the big tag punch.

For the top of the jar I used the scalloped circle punch with red carstock and glued it to the lid.  I used the awesome Martha Stuart snowflake punch with baja cardstock, added a brad and then some stickles for a nice glittery effect.  Lastly I added some dots to the scallops using a white gel pen.  Perfect gift for a teacher, which is where this one is going!

I am in the spirit!

Even though I am stuck in bed day and night and am on 7 different perscriptions including narcotics, I am still sneaking to my chair (right beside my bed sits my awesome stamping center!), I still have time to create.  Just as long as I don't doze off while in the middle of a project and spill glue or ink on it! 

I can't remember if I told you that when I saw the new In Colors for the first time I hated them.  But I ordered an asst. pack of them just to try the colors out.  Well I LOVE THEM!  Especially Ridinghood Red!  It is a gorgeous Christmas color.

I used the q-tips and reinker (tutorial here) technique to color in the tree and stamped it on white.  Then I sponged the edge with cocoa.

Then I matted on chocolate, retired DSP and baja bllue.  I added the photo corners with brads attached and sponged the edges with matching color.  I added the ribbon to the card base and then matted above layers onto card base.

I did something really stupid, but come on, I am on narcotics and mild sedatives here!  I girl can screw ip once can't she?  I decided stamped the sentiment along the bottom in chocolate in a line would be cool.  Well apparently with my narcotic state I screwed up so I stamped a bunch of the sentiments all over the bottom. ugh

Lastly I added some stickles to the tree to give it a bit of seasonal twinkle.

My mom got me a new desktop for stamping yesterday and I am getting my hubby to set it up.  It is part of the white cubicle line at Michaels.  It came with a desk top and a shelf, on sale for $23.99.  As of yet I have been using a small student cheapy desk with barely any room for me to stamp.  So as my bedrest continues I will be stress free creating on a wider, better surface!  Yay me!
